Oct 27, 1921 - Carroll Times - The funeral of Mrs. Mary Jost, formerly Miss Mary Best, Sunday afternoon, was without question the largest that Lidderdale has ever seen. Mrs. Mary Christine Jost was born in Grant township, February 6, 1882, and lived in the neighborhood of Lidderdale all her life. October 6, 1909, she was, united in marriage to Henry J. Jost, who is manager of the Farmers Union elevator at Lidderdale. Mary Jost was of a kind and lovable disposition, one of those characters who make friends but very seldom lose one. She was a faithful member of the Lutheran church and the Tabitha Ladies' Aid where her absence will be painfully noticed. Several years ago she became seriously ill and was soon therafter removed to the St. Anthony hospital where she received the best of care and attention. But when septiceamia set in, it was immediately realized that perhaps she would not recover. Being informed of her actual condition, she thought only of preparing to meet her maker. Thursday afternoon at about 3:30 o'clock death relieved her from her intense suffering. Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran church, interment taking place in the Lutheran cemetery. She leaves to mourn her untimely death her bereaved husband; Herald, her only son; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Best, of Glidden; her sisters, Mrs. Jacob Janssen and Mrs. Henry Wenck, and her brothers, Fred and Cord Best; all of Carroll county.
