Mrs. Balvin, whose maiden name was Mary Drahos, was born in Bohemia in 1873, coming to this country with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Drahos, about 1893, the family settling in north Tama county. She was married in Traer to Ben Balvin in 1897. Mrs. Balvin was the mother of twelve children, ten of whom are living: Joseph near Chelsea; Emil, Frank, and Ben Jr., all at home or employed near home; Mrs. Charles Benda near Clutier; Mrs. Frank Pejche of Solon, Ia.; Mrs. Joe Brezina near Elberon; Mrs. Emil Caslavka north of Toledo; Mrs. William Masker north of Chelsea, and Tena at home. Two sons, William and Alois, died in infancy. The husband also survives and there are twenty-four living grandchildren. Frank Drahos, living south of Dinsdale is a brother of the decedent. A brother Joe died in August 1927. The funeral is to be at St. Vaclav church in Carroll township at 10 o’clock this Friday morning, in charge of Rev. Father T. A. Vopatek.
