Description	:	Girard Press Mar. 25, 1920 Miss Rie E. Wicks Spencer Wicks received a telegram last week, conveying the sad news of the death of his sister, Miss Rie E. Wicks, who passed away at her home in Seattle, Washington, March 10th, 1920, at the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 15 days. Miss Wicks was well known to the early residents of Girard, having attended the Girard schools and having served faithfully as deputy register of deeds under John W. Stryker and J. W. Magie. Wicks, who passed away at her home in Seattle, Washington, March 10th, 1920, at the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 15 days. Miss Wicks was well known to the early residents of Girard, having attended the Girard schools and having served faithfully as deputy register of deeds under John W. Stryker and J. W. Magie. Later she attended business college in Kansas City and became an expert stenographer. In 1913, she went to Washington and has since made her home in that state. Miss Wicks was born in Ontario, Canada, October 26th 1857. She moved with her parents to the Wicks homestead, two miles southeast of Girard, in 1869. She is lovingly remembered by a large circle of friends who knew her as a pure woman, and a kind neighbor and friend. She never married, but did her full share to make the world a better place in which to live. She leaves a sister, Mrs Josephine Thurman, of Burlington, Washington, and a brother, Spencer Wicks, of Girard. Her remains were interred in the Burlington, (Washington) Cemetery.
