Description	:	Ossie "Mac" and Ellen (Kelly) McKinzie welcomed a little girl named Marie, on their farm in McLean County, south of Douglas, ND with the help of a country doctor on October 10, 1933. Marie was raised on the family farm, and attended school in Garrison, ND and Ryder, ND, graduating in 1951 from Ryder High School. Following her graduation, Marie went to work for the McLean County Agent in Washburn, ND, which led her to various positions within County extension offices over the next several decades in Mclean, Towner, and Ward Counties. Marie was raised on the family farm, and attended school in Garrison, ND and Ryder, ND, graduating in 1951 from Ryder High School. Following her graduation, Marie went to work for the McLean County Agent in Washburn, ND, which led her to various positions within County extension offices over the next several decades in Mclean, Towner, and Ward Counties. In 1958, she was offered a lifetime opportunity to be an IFYE to Sweden. In 1947 the IFYE program (International Farm Youth Exchange) was started as a means to rebuild personal relations between youth from the USA and countries all over the world. Marie assisted with many chores living with five host families during her stay in Sweden. Upon her return, Marie made 100 plus presentations all over ND of her experience—promoting "Peace Through Understanding." She eventually went on to college and graduated from NDSU in 1962. On December 29, 1967, Marie was united in marriage to Marvin Felan. It was really a package deal, as three small children were included in the marriage. Marie has guided many 4-H clubs, impacting the lives of hundreds of children over her 25 plus years. Marie and Marvin were also involved with the Swedish Heritage Society, and served as the fundraising chairman for the 30-foot tall Dala horse located at the Scandinavian Heritage Park in Minot. Marie was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking, cross-stitching, watching Minnesota Twins, writing poetry, and every Christmas she enjoyed writing Christmas poetry letters; which were addressed and sent to over 200 plus people throughout the United States and abroad. Marie Felan passed away Thursday, October 28, 2021, in a Minot hospital at the age of 88 years. Marie is survived by: Husband of 53 years, Marvin; daughter, Colleen (Michael) Hauf, Minot; son Kenneth Felan, Golden, CO; daughter, Janet Yeager, Minot, ND; grandchildren: Christopher Hauf (Tasha), Amanda Hauf, Matthew Felan, Andrea Pratt (David), Desirae Yeager, Kourtney Yeager; great-grandchildren, Gwenivere Hauf, Christopher Jr. Hauf, Cloe Pratt, Gabriella Felan, Ashton Felan, Madison Felan, Johnathon Felan, Bentley Fettig, Avacyn Fettig, and Kayde Herrera; brother, Patrick McKinzie; brother-in-law, Andrew Felan; sister-in-law, Vi Torno (Delton); several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of long-time friends. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, grandson, R. Johnathon "Mox" Yeager, great-grandson, Gabriel Herrera; in-law's, Arthur and Marie Felan, sister, Lorene Conklin (Vincent), brother Ralph McKinzie (Lois), sisters-in-law, Irma Felan, and Frances McKinzie, and brother-in-law, Alvin Felan. Mass of Christian Burial: Monday, November 8, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
