Duaghter of Fred Payton and Dora Kirgis Payton, Marie was born September 22, 1917 on her parents' farm near the Gardiner School, southeast of Perry. She started school in Clarke County and later moved to Perry where she graduated from high school. Read More	Marie Estella Bauer, 86, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Perry Lutheran Home in Perry. Duaghter of Fred Payton and Dora Kirgis Payton, Marie was born September 22, 1917 on her parents' farm near the Gardiner School, southeast of Perry. She started school in Clarke County and later moved to Perry where she graduated from high school. On February 18, 1940 Marie was united in marriage to Delbert Bauer at First United Methodist Church in Perry. The couple lived south of Ogden and farmed there for approximately 10 years before moving to Jamaica. Three years later, the couple bought the farm just north of the Panther Creek corner in Dallas County. Marie stayed on the farm after Delbert's death in 1997, and moved into the Perry LUtheran Home in May 2001. Marie helped Delbert on the farm and she and her husband were active in the Farm Bureau and the Association of Retarded Children. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and The Perry Chief's THree-Quarter Century Club. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Payton and Dorothy Robinson; three brothers, Sam in infancy, Bill and Laverne Payton; her husband, Delbert; and a son Allen in January of this year. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Tomas of Afton, Ginny Harkin of Woodward and DeAnne Roby of Greeneville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; frive great-grandchildre; two sisters, Thelma Payne of Minburn and Marjorie Wicks of Perry; and a brother, Norman Payton of Columbia, Missouri.
