Description	:	Died, at her home four miles south of Germantown, January 31, 1908, Mrs. Maria Fredericke Gruber, aged 71 years and 1 day. Mrs. Gruber was born January 30, 1837, at Bielefeld, Germany. At the age of five years she with her parents came to America, the family settling at Chester, Ill., where she continued to reside until her marriage to Rev. Carl Theo Gruber on October 21, 1856, Mr. Gruber at that time serving as pastor for the congregation at Paitzdorf, Mo. Rev. Gruber afterwards served as pastor for the following congregations: Berryville, Mo., California, Mo., Hampton, Ill., Middle Creek,... At the age of five years she with her parents came to America, the family settling at Chester, Ill., where she continued to reside until her marriage to Rev. Carl Theo Gruber on October 21, 1856, Mr. Gruber at that time serving as pastor for the congregation at Paitzdorf, Mo. Rev. Gruber afterwards served as pastor for the following congregations: Berryville, Mo., California, Mo., Hampton, Ill., Middle Creek, Seward county, Nebr., Altamont, Ill., and Gresham, Nebr., where he died in December 1889. After the death of Mr. Gruber the deceased with her children moved back to their homestead where she continued to reside until her death. Mother Gruber had been a patient sufferer for 44 years but she bore her suffering without complaint and patiently awaited the time when she would be relieved from her suffering. To Rev. and Mrs. Gruber ten children were born, two dieing in infancy. She is survived by eight children, four sons and four daughters, 22 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral services were held at the Middle Creek church Sunday, Feb. 21, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining the church, Rev. Gans officiating.
