A second-generation American, Marie was born on February 25, 1941, at home in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to Nels Christian and Thornie (Sorbo) Jensen, being named after both of her grandmothers. Grandchildren: Nicole, Justin, Mandy, Jon, Megan, Kody, Kyli, Heather, Tyler, Cody, and Mandy; as well as great-grandchildren, Sophia, Madison, Kenedie, Charlotte, Claire, and Fletcher Marie was preceded in death by her mother (1989), father (1992), brothers: LuVern (2016), James (1939) and sister Nylene (1949). Private graveside services were held on Friday, September 6, 2019, at Silver Lake Lutheran Church Cemetery. Marie is the sixth consecutive generation to be buried at Silver Lake since the emigration of the Sorbo family from Valdres, Norway in 1862. “When someone you love dies, and you're not expecting it, you don't lose her all at once; you lose her in pieces over a long time—the way the mail stops coming, and her scent fades from the pillows and even from the clothes in her closet and drawers. Gradually, you accumulate the parts of her that are gone.
