Marie Helen Benda was born the daughter of Albert and Mary (Medricka) Benda on August 8th, 1931, in Toledo, Iowa. She graduated from the Toledo High School with the class of 1949. Marie Helen Benda was born the daughter of Albert and Mary (Medricka) Benda on August 8th, 1931, in Toledo, Iowa. She graduated from the Toledo High School with the class of 1949. After graduation Marie worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for five years, and enjoyed every day. On June 17th, 1954, Marie was united in marriage to Henry Dost at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Marshalltown. The two made their home in Marshalltown and raised seven children. Marie was a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother. While raising her children Marie worked at Cashway Lumber Store for 28 years until she retired in 1996. She volunteered at the Iowa River Hospice until she physically was not able to continue. She was also actively involved in the Central Iowa Eye Openers, Drum and Bugle Corp. Survivors include her brother Bob Benda; children: Frieda Mae Dost, of Nevada, IA, Marcia (Gerald) Eilers, of Redfield, IA, Sue Ann Dost, of Corpus Christi, TX, David Dost, of Marshalltown, IA, Cindy (Randy) Swaim, of Columbia, SC, Joni Hickman, of Toledo, IA; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
