Paul Rowoldt officiating. Six grandsons, Raymond, Reuben, Elmer, Deon, and Leonard Apfel and Frank Manske acted as pallbearers. The floral offerings were beautiful. Marie Braasch was born in Berlin, Germany, 20 November, eighty-five years ago, and came to the United States when 12 years of age. She was married to Carl Apfel when about 17 years of age and moved to Nebraska from Milwaukee, fifty three years ago. The located on a farm ten miles northwest of Norfolk and underwent all the hardships of the early settlers. Thirteen children were born to them, the seven following survive: Mrs J.W. Pheasant, Meadow Grove; Mrs F.H. Manske; Mrs Anna Shannon, Arthur and Charles Apfel of Meadow Grove and Mrs Martin Heckendorf of Milwaukee. Mr Apfel died thirty-seven years ago.
