Marie Louise (Jacob) Dreifke was born June 12, 1931, near Baxter, IA to John and Renetta (Fricke) Jacob. She grew up on the farm with her two older brothers and three younger sisters. Marie was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural State Center. Marie Louise (Jacob) Dreifke was born June 12, 1931, near Baxter, IA to John and Renetta (Fricke) Jacob. She grew up on the farm with her two older brothers and three younger sisters. Marie was baptized and confirmed at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural State Center. Her Confirmation verse was Romans 5:1 "Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." Marie graduated from Melbourne High School in 1949. She then attended Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, IA and graduated with her teaching certificate, going on to teach elementary school in Collins, IA for three years. Marie was united in marriage to Carl August Dreifke at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural State Center, on June 12, 1953. To this union two children were born, Richard and Jean. Marie was a true farm wife, working beside Carl, milking the cows on their dairy farm and helping in every capacity on the farm. Marie was an excellent baker. She baked many rolls, cookies, and bars over the years that she shared with her family and friends. Marie was very gifted in sewing all types of crafts. She enjoyed giving them to friends and family and taking her creations to craft shows after they moved to Hubbard in 1990. She was also an avid reader. She cherished her grandchildren and attended all their ball games, music programs and special events in their lives. Marie especially loved being with her great-grandchildren. They brought much joy to her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl, two brothers, two sisters, two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and two nephews. Those left to cherish her memory are son Richard (Kollene) Dreifke; daughter Jean (Keith) Miller; grandchildren Kaela (Matt) Dahlsten, Clint (Melissa) Miller and Sam (Natalie) Miller; step grandchildren Martin (Angela) Steiner, Holly (Mike) Seehusen, Jason (Alison) Steiner, Joel (Melissa) Steiner and Andrea (Seth) Kowalik; great-grandchildren Henry, Max and Amelia Dahlsten, Mayella, Hana and Daphne Miller and Gabriella Miller; step great-grandchildren Nolen, Gabriel, Olivia and Piper Steiner, Parker, Nora, Owen and Elyse Seehusen and Lane and Hayden Steiner; sister Joyce Tintjer; sister-in-law Dorothy Gehrke; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be established.
