Description	:	Marie Lucille Dirks DeBoom, 99, of Le Mars, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Floyd Valley Healthcare in Le Mars. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars. Reverend Dr. Jean Ziettlow and Reverend Chris Meier will officiate. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery – Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, E.L.C.A. in Le Mars. Reverend Dr. Jean Ziettlow and Reverend Chris Meier will officiate. Burial will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery – Grant Township, rural Le Mars. Visitation with the family present will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are with the Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. Marie Lucille Lubben was born January 11, 1919 in rural Le Mars, Iowa, the daughter of Henry J. and Mary (Ommen) Lubben. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, rural Le Mars. She attended country school at Grant Township #8. She was united in marriage to Albert William Dirks on August 25, 1937 at her parent’s home. The couple farmed by Melvin, Iowa, where they raised their family and were active in their local church where Marie taught Sunday school. Albert passed away on January 27, 1965. In January of 1966, Marie moved back to Le Mars and was employed by K-Products and by Hy-Vee. Marie married Simon DeBoom on February 12, 1977 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. They made their home in Le Mars where they enjoyed their retirement years by traveling, playing cards, and visiting family and friends. Simon passed away December 26, 2002. Marie continued an active life volunteering at the Good Samaritan Society in Le Mars. She enjoyed embroidering dish towels sets for the Floyd Valley Healthcare gift shop. She also crocheted afghans for her children and grandchildren. Her excellent baking and serving skills were appreciated by family and friends throughout her entire adult life. Marie moved to Park Place Estates in Le Mars in February of 2011, where she enjoyed making many new friends and participating in various social activities. Marie was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars, where she was active for many years in W.E.L.C.A. circle. Survivors include her 4 children: Sharon (Loyd) Rueter of Worthington, MN, Donna (Richard) Hohlfeld of Holcombe, WI, Stanley (Linda) Dirks of Council Bluffs, IA, and Dave (Anne) Dirks of Ankeny, IA; 3 step children: Gary (Suzanne) DeBoom of Sioux Falls, SD, Margaret DeBoom of Sioux Falls, SD, and Kermit (Pam) DeBoom of Sibley, IA; 12 grandchildren: Ardel (Dennis) Martin, Kevin (Paula) Rueter, Mary (Marlin) Laverman, Brenda (Robert) Brooks, Keith (Sherry) Rueter, Craig (Betty) Hohlfeld, Crystal Magnuson, Cindy (Dave) Bachler, Ryan Dirks, Kyle Dirks, Rebecca (Brett) Stewart, and Sarah Jane (Sean) Danaher; 3 step grandchildren: Kristen DeBoom (John Sommer), John DeBoom, and Meredith DeBoom; 21 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters: Lois Winecoff of Le Mars, IA, and Edna Johnson of Le Mars, IA; a sister in law: Evelyn Dirks of Akron, IA; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mary Lubben; an infant daughter; her two husbands, Albert Dirks and Simon DeBoom; 2 sisters and spouses: Helen and Gert Haage and Alice and Elmer Pearson; and 2 brothers in law: Bob Winecoff and Lester Johnson.
