Description	:	Marie Ruiter, 96, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Belmond Rehabilitation Center in Belmond. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Meservey with Rev. Rodney Meester presiding. Interment will be at the Meservey Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service at the church. Those wishing to may direct memorials to the First Reformed Church in Meservey. Marie Margaret (Kahler) Ruiter was born March 24, 1917 near Goodell, Iowa. She attended country school near Goodell graduating from the eighth grade. On November 17, 1934 Marie was united in marriage with Bernard Ruiter in Belmond. They moved to Wisconsin where they farmed for a short period before moving back to Iowa settling near Meservey. Here they farmed for many years until retiring in 1978 and moving into Klemme. After Bernard passed away Marie moved to Thornton until going to the Belmond Rehabilitation Center in April of 2011. She passed away at 96 years of age. Marie was a 4-H leader for ten years. She loved working in the garden and was Grandmother of the Year for Hancock County in 1997. She is survived by her children: Donnie Ruiter, Thornton & Janet (Glenn) Hardesy, Lexington, NE; 3 grandsons: Randy (Suzie) Ruiter, Denver, Iowa; Danny Ruiter, Stanton, NE and Bryce Boelman, Lexington, NE; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; sister: Avon Kohl and brother-in-law: Willie Ruiter. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
