Marie Margarete Schreter, daughter of Mary (Baer) and Henry Schreter, was born March 10, 1909 at their farm north of Lowry, SD. This is where she was raised and attended Surrey Rural School. Bieber, 97, Mobridge,SD., died Saturday, October 21, 2006 at the Selby Good Samaritan Center. Marie Margarete Schreter, daughter of Mary (Baer) and Henry Schreter, was born March 10, 1909 at their farm north of Lowry, SD. This is where she was raised and attended Surrey Rural School. Following her schooling, her help was needed at home. She married Gustave W. Bieber at the Zion Lutheran Church in Lowry on Easter Monday April 1, 1929. The ceremony was held early in the week so as not to interfere with the beginning of the spring field work. The newlyweds settled on a farm 11 miles south of Java. They lived on this farm until 1974 when they moved to Mobridge. Mr. Bieber died September 4, 1995 and Marie remained living in Mobridge until August 2002 when she moved to the Selby Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Java and Trinity Lutheran Church in Mobridge as well as the Church's ladie's groups. She also belonged to the W.O.T.M., Extension Clubs in Java and Mobridge, the Java and Mobridge Garden Clubs, and the Java PTA. Marie also belonged to a Saddle Club and square dancing clubs in Mobridge and Selby. Her other interests included craftwork, crocheting, and embroidering. She also enjoyed flower gardening and loved roses. Marie is survived by 3 daughters-Lorraine Biel of Java, Shirley (Adrian) Kast of Bismarck, ND, and Pam (Ray) Reiss of Java; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death her parents, husband, 3 brothers (Henry, Albert, and Herman), and 3 sisters (Esther Riccoubona, Lillian Walz, and Elsie Schreter). Her funeral service will be Saturday, October 28th at Trinity Lutheran Church, Mobridge, with Pastor Doug Westerlund officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Java, SD. Honorary bearers will be Marie's granddaughters-Connie Bauer of Kulm, ND., Marsha Harvey of Casper, WY., Sherilyn Starks of Pierre, SD., Lori James of Lead, SD., Barbara Quintus of Killdeer, ND., and Ramona Reiss of Sioux Falls, SD. Casketbearers will be Steve Biel and Dan Biel of Java, Dan Bauer of Kulm, ND., Jerry Harvey of Casper, WY., Lenny Starks of Pierre, Scott Kast of Minot, ND., Steve Quintus of Killdeer, ND., and Roy Reiss of Cottonwood, CA. Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle, is in charge of arrangements.
