Mrs. Lambert was born in Bessemer City, N.C. on Jan. 10, 1919, a daughter of the late David Lee Payne and Ethel Ida Phifer Payne. Mrs. Lambert was born in Bessemer City, N.C. on Jan. 10, 1919, a daughter of the late David Lee Payne and Ethel Ida Phifer Payne. She grew up in the Trio community of Williamsburg County and lived in Siler City, N.C. for many years. After the death of her husband, E. Leon Lambert, she returned to S.C. to live in Andrews. Mrs. Lambert was a member of Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was predeceased by three brothers, Leonard Payne, Kenneth Payne and D. L. Payne Jr.; and two sisters, Imogene Rowell and Pauline Smith. Survivors include a daughter, Linda L. Painter and her husband, Stan, of Easley; a sister, Edith P. Brantley of Beaufort; two granddaughters, Hollis Painter of Atlanta, Ga. and Hillary Painter of Charleston; niece and caregiver, Nan S. Blakely of Georgetown; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon, September 16, 2006 at Andrews Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. John Black. Burial will follow in Andrews Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends before the services, from 1:30 until 3 p.m., in the church's fellowship hall. Arrangements by the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
