Description	:	Mary Katherine Mueller, nee Schroeder, was born July 7, 1850, at Matzingen, Hanover, Germany, at which place she was also baptized. After having completed the prescribed course of study in school and receiving the necessary religious instruction, she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Eppendorf, Germany. After having completed the prescribed course of study in school and receiving the necessary religious instruction, she was confirmed in the Lutheran church at Eppendorf, Germany. In May 1870 her parents came with her to this country, making their home in the proximity of Chicago. Here, on the 20th of December, 1872, she became the wife of William Mueller. In the spring of the following year she moved with her husband to Nebraska and settled on a farm southeast of Garland. The deceased was the mother of eleven children, of whom three preceded their mother in death. Owing to the death of her husband, which occurred almost 23 years ago, she became a widow. For the past twelve years Mrs. Mueller has made her home in Garland. About two weeks ago the deceased became seriously ill and though nothing was left undone on the part of her children to restore her to health, she nevertheless did not rally sufficiently enough as to give encouragement for complete recovery. Thus she grew weaker from day to day and finally, sooner than expected, passed away last Monday evening, April 19, at about 5:15 o'clock, at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 12 days. Funeral services were held last Thursday afternoon. After a brief service at the house the remains were transferred to Zion Lutheran church, where before a large audience the Rev. T. Joeckel preached appropriate sermons both in German and English to her memory. Interment was at the Stone church cemetery at Middle Creek, Rev. Merz officiating. Mrs. Mueller leaves to mourn her death eight children: Louise, Carl, Louis, Mrs. Emma Beckmann of Garland; William of Malcolm; Mrs. Minnie Beckmann of Lincoln; Mrs. Marie Wied of Tamora; Christ of Pleasant Dale, 21 grandchildren, one great grandchild, a brother, Mr. William Schroeder, commissioner of water and lights, Lincoln, other relatives and a number of friends and acquaintances.
