Description	:	Marie (Maria) Sophia Dorothea Beckman was the daughter of Johann Beckman and unknown mother. Her father was a shepherd near Laage, Germany. She married Christian Andreas Heinrich Ebert on October 07, 1844 in the Evangelisch Kirche, Laage, Güstrow, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. Pastor Rezpe of Cammin, officiated the ceremony. Christian was a shoemaker and later records indicate that he became a Master Shoemaker. Mary (Marie) immigrated to America on September 01, 1881 leaving the Ports of Hamburg, Germany and Havre, France arriving in the Port of New York, New York aboard the Ship Lessing. She traveled with her daughter, her son-in-law, and several grandchildren. Her husband did not immigrated and died in Laage on March 22, 1885. The family settled near Slades Corner, Wisconsin. Later, she went to Chickasaw County, Iowa. Marie had 5 children: Wilhelmine Christine, Christina Henriettte, Dorothea Maria, Maria Johanna, and Ludwig Karl. Obituary: Mrs. Ebert, mother of Mrs. William Segebarth, Sr., passed away at the home of her daughter Wednesday morning, March 22, after a ten days’ of illness of pneumonia. Her age was 93 years and 6 months. Previous to her last illness she had enjoyed excellent health for one who had attained such a large majority of years. She was highly respected by all of her acquaintances, who extend to the sorrowing friends the hand of sympathy in this sad hour. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Finke Saturday (March 24, 1916) at St. John’s Lutheran church north of town. New Hampton Gazette, Wednesday, March 29, 1914.
