She grew up in the Templeton area attending school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Templeton and then helping on the family farm. Marie was united in marriage to Alvin F. LICKTEIG Burial will be Saturday afternoon at St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery ~ Halbur, Iowa Marie Sophia Lickteig was born September 3, 1918 in rural Carroll, daughter of Henry and Amelia (Klocke) Riesberg. She grew up in the Templeton area attending school at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Templeton and then helping on the family farm. Marie was united in marriage to Alvin F. Potthoff on April 27, 1938 in Templeton. They moved to the Carroll and Halbur area where they raised their six children. Alvin preceded her in death on July 29, 1953. Marie was united in marriage to Albert Henry Lickteig on June 20, 1959 in Halbur. They made their home in Wesley. Marie enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, crocheting, and she belonged to many card clubs. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wesley being active in the Catholic Daughters and the St. Joseph Guild. Marie and Albert moved to Van Buren Terrace in Algona in 2004 and at that time became members of St. Cecelia Catholic Church. In October of 2008, she moved into Huskamp Haven Assisted Living Facility until becoming a resident of Good Samaritan Society - Algona in April of 2010. Marie S. Lickteig died there Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at the age of 91. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Albert of Algona; 10 children, Carlene O'Connor of Minneapolis, MN, Delores (Gordon) Volkmeier of Minneapolis, MN, Yvonne Klaver of Carroll, Iowa, Donald (Jane) Potthoff of Algona, Dennis (Deb) Potthoff of Blue Spring, MO, Helen (Don) Paulsen of Mason City, Ruth Lickteig of Mason City; Mike (Judith) Lickteig of Nora Springs, Catherine (Bill) Foster of Valrico, FL, and Margaret Trieschmann of Valrico, FL. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Dennis (Marion) Riesberg of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Alvin; her son James Potthoff in 2001; an infant great-granddaughter; seven brothers; one sister; and three sons-in-law, William O'Connor, Roger Klaver, and Vance Trieschmann. - Submitted by Tammy Brand
