Read More	El Dorado Times Posted Nov 30, 2011 @ 08:13 AM El Dorado, Kan. — Marietta E. "Rita" Newton, 83, of El Dorado, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at Lakepoint Nursing Center, El Dorado. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church, with Recitation of the Rosary at 9:30. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7:30 Thursday evening at Carlson Funeral Home. Interment will follow the Mass in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. She was born on Aug. 5, 1928 in Danville, Kan., the daughter of George W. and Florence (Smart) Durant. She graduated from Harper High School and then attended Beauty School in Wichita. Rita was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, enjoyed sewing, crocheting, word, and loved to spend time with her grandchildren. On March 29, 1951, she was married to Donald J. Newton in Anthony, Kan. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1998. Those who survive are: her children and their spouses, Marilyn Newton, Debra and Dennis Johnson, John and Sandra Newton, and Katherine Bohnert, all of El Dorado; grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer and Brad Meyers of El Dorado, Amanda and Dustin Anderson of Jenkins, Okla., and Matthew Bohnert of El Dorado; and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Jacob and Chelsie Meyers, Jaden McAdoo, and Halley and Madelyn (Maddie) Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother. Memorials to her memory for the El Dorado Cancer Center and checks should be made to SBAMH Foundation, and then in memo SBA Cancer Center.
