Description	:	Marilyn A. Stretch, 85, of Rochester, passed away at 2:09 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Woodlawn Hospital. Marilyn was born on Aug. 9, 1927, in Graymont, Ill., the precious daughter of Forrest and Clara (Bowers) Stretch. Growing up, she shared her childhood with a brother and four sisters. Read More	Marilyn A. Stretch, 85, of Rochester, passed away at 2:09 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Woodlawn Hospital. Marilyn was born on Aug. 9, 1927, in Graymont, Ill., the precious daughter of Forrest and Clara (Bowers) Stretch. Growing up, she shared her childhood with a brother and four sisters. A loyal and devoted member of Rochester's First Baptist Church, Marilyn was active in the fellowship guild and the adult choir. She was also a leader of the kitchen crews, active with hosting funeral dinners and fundraiser meals for the church. She is best remembered for her delicious deviled eggs. In earlier years, she is remembered for the meticulous care of the colorful flower gardens that embraced her home. Only a few years back, passers-by marveled as she cruised on her walker around her gardens, weeding and picking up errant leaves. Paramount in her life was her family. She loved being in their company all through the years. Playing on the floor with some of the toddler nieces and nephews, she was known as Grandma-Aunt Marilyn. A couple of the kids accompanied her on a memorable bus trip to Branson, Mo. to see the amazing Rockettes. Her crocheted handiwork of detailed dollies and coasters were enjoyed by family and special friends. Marilyn loved watching the Notre Dame teams and the Colts play on television. Marilyn is lovingly remembered by a sister, Bonnie Townsend and husband Robert, of Rochester; one brother-in-law, Francis Carlson; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Lavonne Bailey, Willa Wagoner and Martha Carlson; one brother, Louis Stretch; and two nephews, Ron Bailey and Wayne Wagoner. A celebration of the life of Marilyn Stretch will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, in the Good Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Rochester with Pastor Mark Spencer, Ph.D., officiating. Friends may visit with the family from noon-2 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home. She will be laid to eternal rest on the family plot in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
