Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all who plan to attend the visitation and funeral services are asked to wear a mask and exercise social distancing. Visitation will 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 28, at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion UCC or Camp Courageous in her memory. Private family burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery, Wheatland, Iowa. Marilyn Ann Conrad was born August 14, 1940, in Clarence, the daughter of Elmer and Leona (Helmold) Conrad. She married Alden Fredrick Klahn on March 5, 1960, in Lowden. Music was a big part of Marilyn's life. She was self taught to play the piano and organ and was the organist at Zion UCC for 40 years. She also played the piano for Zion's church services at the Clarence Nursing Home. She enjoyed cards, eating out and all the cats she had on the farm. She was a volunteer at North Cedar Elementary School for many years and enjoyed the kids. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family. Surviving are her husband, Alden; one daughter, Denise (Gregg) Block of DeWitt; one son, Gary (Kimberly) Klahn of Lowden; four grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Block, Lucas (Rachel Dehmlow) Block, Kaleb (Kaylie) Klahn and Kody (Cassie) Klahn; six great-grandchildren, Ellerie Block and Keegan, Kennedy, Gunner, Wesson and Gauge Klahn; and one brother, Merlin Conrad of Lowden. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Roland Conrad in infancy and one sister-in-law, Carma Conrad. Chapman Funeral Homes
