Pritchard Jr., they were married for over 57 years, before he passed away four years ago. She was born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Irving & Lillian B. (Sherman) Hammond. She had been a New... Read More	Marilyn B. (Hammond) Pritchard, 82 of Bedford St. New Bedford, died Friday at the Highlander Skilled Nursing Home and Rehab in Fall River. She was a devoted wife of the late John W. Pritchard Jr., they were married for over 57 years, before he passed away four years ago. She was born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Irving & Lillian B. (Sherman) Hammond. She was raised in the home of her mother and late grandmother Carrie D. Sherman. She had worked in the Hoisery Department for the former Cherry's Department Store in her younger years. She had been a New Bedford resident all of her life. Mrs. Pritchard was an active member of the Centre Trinity United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women, Triniteers Couples Club, the weekly Bible Study Group, and formerly taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Grief Support Group through the Dartmouth Council on Aging. Marilyn enjoyed knitting and sewing, often making baby sets, as well as donating hats she made for newborns at the hospital. Along with her husband, she volunteered with Chaplain Community Service, both enjoyed arts and crafts, and participated in several craft fairs. She especially enjoyed family gatherings, she was a devoted mother and enjoyed taking care of her family and grandchildren, She enjoyed dining out, and helping those in need She loved her cat "Peanut". She is survived by her 2 sons and their wives John William "Bill" III and his wife Victoria Pritchard of Bridgewater, Daniel Christopher and his wife Suzan Pritchard of Westport. She was the grandmother of Jason W. Pritchard, Carrie A. and her husband Stephen Kobialka, as well as Christopher W. Pritchard. She was the sister of the late Susie Ball. www.southcoasttoday.com
