Read More	Marilyn Eileen Francis Nissen February 26, 1933 ~ March 23, 2017 Marilyn Eileen Nissen, 84 of Genoa, Nebraska, and formerly of Albion, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion. She was born the daughter of Ivor Edgar and Hannah Cordelia (Larkins) Francis was born on the family farm in Nance County, Nebraska. Marilyn attended Nance County School District 52 and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1950. She then received her nurses training at Bryan Memorial Hospital and graduated with her Registered Nursing degree on September 6, 1954. On November 27, 1954 Marilyn was united in marriage to Gerald Joseph Nissen at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion. To this union eight children were born, Mark, Bruce, Deborah, Dennis, Annette, Greg, Amy, and Patrick. The family lived and raised their family in Albion, Newman Grove, and Genoa, where Marilyn worked in several aspects of the nursing field for 59 years. She spent the last 30 years of her career at the Boone County Health Center in Albion until retiring in 2013. Towards the end of her career Marilyn obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. She spent many years treating cancer patients at the Boone County Health Center as an oncology nurse. Marilyn was a member of the St. Rosa Lima Catholic Church in Genoa, and was an honorary member of the Altar Society there. Some of her hobbies included cross stitching, crocheting, and knitting. She spent many hours knitting hats for the babies at the hospital, and blankets for her family. Marilyn gardened and canned, they raised chickens and she was the best at “cleaning” the chickens when it came time. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Marilyn had the patience of a saint, and served her family and communities with her tender care and compassion. She is survived by: her husband, Gerald; children, Mark (Gena), Bruce (Susan), Deborah (John) Schueth, Dennis (Tammy), Annette Nissen (Ron Juracek), Greg, Amy (Gordon) Simonson, and Patrick (Melissia); 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Blanche Hastings and Beverley (Bernard) Minturn; sisters-in-law, Nola Francis, Becky Kretz, Arletta Francis, Dorothy (LeRoy) Belgum; brothers-in-law Derald Cheeney, Lavern (Arlene) Nissen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: her parents; parents-in-law, Willie and Mary Nissen; two infant grandsons; brothers, Ivor “Bud” Francis, Wendell Francis, and Richard Francis; sister Shirley Cheeney; sister-in-law, Marjorie VonBonn, brothers-in-law, Bernard Minturn and Eugene Von Bonn. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion. Interment in the parish cemetery. Obituary information from Levander Funeral Home of Albion, Nebraska.
