Description	:	Marilyn Elizabeth Haden, 87, of Surprise, AZ, passed away on February 9, 2015 at 7:50 p.m. at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona. Her death was unexpected. She was born Sept. 8, 1927 in Fort Madison, IA. Her parents were Leonard and Bernadine Bendlage. She married Robert K. Haden on June 5, 1947. Upon graduation from high school, Marilyn was employed for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was also employed by Rump’s Young Fashions Children’s Clothing store and lastly, a school secretary at Aquinas Jr./Sr. High School. Read More	Marilyn Elizabeth Haden, 87, of Surprise, AZ, passed away on February 9, 2015 at 7:50 p.m. at Banner Boswell Hospital in Sun City, Arizona. Her death was unexpected. She was born Sept. 8, 1927 in Fort Madison, IA. Her parents were Leonard and Bernadine Bendlage. She married Robert K. Haden on June 5, 1947. Upon graduation from high school, Marilyn was employed for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was also employed by Rump’s Young Fashions Children’s Clothing store and lastly, a school secretary at Aquinas Jr./Sr. High School. Throughout her childhood and most of her adult life was spent living in Fort Madison, Iowa where she was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society. She was very active with her children’s activities at Aquinas Jr./Sr. High School and held an office in the Aquinas Music Boosters Association. Marilyn loved playing Bingo, cards, the penny slot machines, dogs, and especially being with her family. In 2006, she moved to Arizona with her daughter, Bernadette. She became a member of St. Claire’s of Assisi Catholic Church in Surprise, Az. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter (Mary Lynn Holtkamp), and son-in-law. Survivors include her daughters, Cynthia Gaffney of Dewey, Az., Bernadette Helling of Surprise, AZ., six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Due to the need of additional medical care, she moved into Peoria Good Shepherd Care Center in 2012. She became very active with the staff, residents, and guests. She enjoyed participating in the Christian and Catholic Services, Bingo, crafts, baking, and outings, just to mention a few. Visitation was held February 16 at 10:00 a.m. at the Camino del Sol Funeral Home. A Catholic funeral service in the Camino del Sol Chapel followed at 11:00 a.m. Her body was cremated and returned to Ft. Madison to be buried. No services were held in Fort Madison.
