Marilyn is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Floyd (Skip) Shipman; daughter Susan (Jon) Benya of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter Stephanie (Dion) Petersimes of Radnor, OH; grandson Nathan Benya of Chicago, IL; granddaughter Katharine Benya of Iowa City, IA; grandson Cole Petersimes of Radnor, OH; brother David (Kathryn Goerig-Eastlake) Eastlake of Sandusky, OH; her beloved cat Mimi; and many extended family members and friends. Marilyn was born to Howard and Pauline Eastlake on June 2, 1940, in Warren, Ohio. She graduated from Andover High School in 1958 and married Skip on July 9, 1960. Marilyn earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees at Kent State University. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in sacred music with organ as her instrument at The Ohio State University. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother. In addition, she was a dedicated teacher, guidance/career counselor, and, for fifty years, a church organist/choir director. Above all, every part of Marilyn's life was rooted in a steady, active faith in God through Jesus Christ; this faith will forever remain the most influential part of Marilyn's legacy. The family extends its deepest gratitude to Marilyn's caregivers and to Ohio Health Hospice. "Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Prov. 31:28 Funeral services for Marilyn will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive at W. William Street, Delaware, with Chaplain Jeff Slider officiating. Burial will follow in Radnor Cemeter
