Read More	Marilyn Dodd, 92, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at her home under the care of Iowa River Hospice. Memorials may be given to the Marshalltown Public Library, Binford House, or Iowa River Hospice. Marilyn was born to Lynn and Jeanne (Crabtree) Smith in North English, Iowa on September 29, 1929. She was raised in Rockford, Iowa, where she attended high school and later graduated with honors magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Iowa in 1947. While attending the university, she was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority and the Scottish Highlanders. There she met Charles Dodd, whom she married. They raised their family in Marshalltown. After Charles died in 1979, Marilyn began substitute teaching for Marshalltown Community Schools, followed by a career as Marketing Director for the Security Bank. Marilyn was a very social individual who loved her friends and community. She was a member of many organizations including as a board member for the Marshalltown Public Library and the Binford House. She was a member of Assistance League of Marshalltown, Hawthorne Club, Early American Glass Club, and the LT chapter of PEO for 75 years. Marilyn was an avid reader, liked bridge, theater, music, hosting parties, and doing yoga. Surviving are her children, Tom Dodd of Marshalltown, Emily (Jim) Spradling of Panora, Iowa, Jim Dodd of Des Moines, Iowa, and John (Shelly Wenz) Dodd of St. Michael, Minnesota; three granddaughters, Aly (Bill) Durey, Stephanie Dodd, and Rachel Dodd; and her sister, Joanne Hendricks, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents Lynn and Jeanne Smith, husband Charles, and her sister Dorothy Miller. Source: Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown.
