Description	:	Marilyn O. Hartley, 89, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday March 8, 2015 at 10:00 pm at Tipton Place in Huntington. She was born on August 7, 1925 to Lawrence W. & Ella J. (Settlemyre) Wren at the home of her maternal grandparents. Marilyn graduated from Roanoke High School in 1943. Her beloved husband of 65 years (DeLoss W. Read More	Marilyn O. Hartley, 89, of Roanoke, passed away on Sunday March 8, 2015 at 10:00 pm at Tipton Place in Huntington. She was born on August 7, 1925 to Lawrence W. & Ella J. (Settlemyre) Wren at the home of her maternal grandparents. Marilyn graduated from Roanoke High School in 1943. Her beloved husband of 65 years (DeLoss W. Hartley) preceded her to heaven’s gate in 2010, and we as a family are certain her date of passing was chosen to be able to join Dad on his birthdate. She was a faithful member of her church (Faith Community Church of God in Huntington) and had served in many roles during her life of service. Marilyn was a very accomplished pianist and had won many awards. She had been offered a scholarship to the St. Louis Conservatory of Music out of high school, but instead married DeLoss (who was in the Army Air Corps) and spent the first year of marriage in Texas, Georgia and Colorado. She was a “homemaker” of the highest degree, taught piano for 25 years and tutored reading at Roanoke Elementary School for 15 years. She had also served as a Cub Scout, Brownie, and Girl Scout Leader. She was a soft spoken person under all circumstances, except when viewing or attending any spectator sport. She seemed to lose control during those events and became quite vocal. Her faith and love was expressed by her way of life to her husband, children, in-laws, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and to others who crossed her path. Surviving are two daughters, JoLynn (Tom) Reed of Colorado Springs, CO and Candy (Tom) Moore of Roanoke, two sons Rick (Linda) Hartley of Roanoke and Dee Jay (Jean) Hartley of Fort Wayne, ten grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Thursday March 12 from 5:30- 8:00 pm and Friday March 13 from 9:30 – 10:30 am preceding the 10:30 am funeral service at Roanoke Memorial Chapel of Deal-Rice Funeral Homes. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery, Roanoke. 527pm
