Marilyn married Richard "Dick" Rutz on Saturday; June 2, 1962 in Siren; Burnett County, Wisconsin. They moved to Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa in 1963 and later to Waukee; Dallas County, Iowa in 1973. Marilyn enjoyed many activities while raising their three children, Beth, Dan and Allan. She was active in the Dallas County Master Gardeners, the Waukee Garden Club, the Waukee Women's Club, the Needles and Threads Quilting Club, the Des Moines Area Quilting Guild, Mission Quilters, and the United Methodist Women's Club. Marilyn also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, bird watching, reading, cooking and playing bridge. Marilyn (Simonson) Rutz, age: 68, passed away on Monday; March 15, 2010, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Those left to mourn her passing are: Her husband, Richard "Dick" Rutz, her children, Beth (Michael) McFee of Farmington; Dakota County, Minnesota, Dan (Lisa) Rutz of Waukee, Iowa and Allan (Andrea) Rutz of Commerce City; Adams County, Colorado. Her grandchildren: Nicole McFee, Michelle, Grant and Blake Rutz, and Brynna and Zachary Rutz. Also her siblings: Dave (Margaret) Simonson of Blaine; Anoka County, Minnesota, Loren (Marie) Simonson of Murphy; Cherokee County, North Carolina and Laurel (Tom) Stusek of Webster; Burnett County, Wisconsin. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her sister: Karen Tucker. May they rest in peace. May God bless her memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday; March 17, 2010 at the Waukee United Methodist Church in Waukee; Dallas County, Iowa. Interment will be at the Waukee Cemetery also in Waukee, Iowa. Memorial contributions in Marilyn's honor may be made to the Waukee United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
