Description	:	SPILLMAN, Marilyn Wheeler, 90, died May 2, 2018, at Sunnyside Retirement Community, where she resided for the last 16 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Earl R. Spillman Jr., whom she was married to for 63 years. Marilyn was born in Danville, Va. on October 7, 1927, to the late Jesse Hobart Wheeler and Ruby Wheeler. She attended Averett and then Longwood College, where she graduated in 1950 with her teaching degree. Read More	SPILLMAN, Marilyn Wheeler, 90, died May 2, 2018, at Sunnyside Retirement Community, where she resided for the last 16 years. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Earl R. Spillman Jr., whom she was married to for 63 years. Marilyn was born in Danville, Va. on October 7, 1927, to the late Jesse Hobart Wheeler and Ruby Wheeler. She attended Averett and then Longwood College, where she graduated in 1950 with her teaching degree. Marilyn taught high school at Franklin High School in Franklin, Va. and Henrico High School in Richmond, Va. She resided in Richmond, Va. for 35 years, where she was an active member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, teaching both kindergarten and adult Sunday school. She later retired from Virginia Power as an accountant after 19 years of service. Marilyn also served as a beloved volunteer at Florida Hospital Waterman in Eustis, Fla. and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eustis. Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Spillman of Leesburg, Fla. and Janet Parr and her husband, Kenneth, of Margate Fla.; her son, Earl R. Spillman III and his wife, Debbie; three grandsons, Christopher, Alexander and the late Connor Spillman of Richmond, Va.; and her brother, Michael Wheeler of Chatham, Va. Marilyn was preceded in death by her sisters, Juanita Keeton of Chicago, Ill. and Peggy McBride of Hampton, Va.; and her brother, Joseph Wheeler of Rocky Mount, N.C. A memorial service will be held at the Sunnyside Chapel in Harrisonburg, Va. on Saturday, June 2, at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Farmville, Va. at a later date.
