Description	:	Marion A. “Mike” McClure, age 86, of Marshalltown, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Glenwood Place. Mike was born on January 28, 1922 in Gilman, Iowa, the son of Emory and Ida (Strand) McClure. He was raised in Marshall County, graduating from Albion High School. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. Mike farmed all his life in Marshall County on his family’s farm and volunteered at the Iowa Veterans Home for many years. Read More	Marion A. “Mike” McClure, age 86, of Marshalltown, passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2008, at Glenwood Place. Mike was born on January 28, 1922 in Gilman, Iowa, the son of Emory and Ida (Strand) McClure. He was raised in Marshall County, graduating from Albion High School. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. Mike farmed all his life in Marshall County on his family’s farm and volunteered at the Iowa Veterans Home for many years. He was also a licensed pilot. Mike was known for his favorite saying, “Born to do things for other people.” He was a member of the Cattlemen’s Association, Iowa Beef Producers, Elks, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hartland Friends Church and the Albion School Board. He was the Marietta Township Trustee and also a driver for the Senior Citizens Center Meal on Wheels. Mike is survived by his three daughters; Kris (Jon ) Borne of Idaho Springs, CO, Ruth (Sam) Newman of Punta Gorda, FL, and Peg (William Wessels) Finders of Pine Island, MN, four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma, his parents, his daughter Lora, two brothers, Lawrence and Ervin and his sister Gerna Haak. Submitted by Find A Grave contributor Elliffen.
