Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at the church prior to the funeral service on Saturday, March 31, 2012 between 12:00 P.M. and 12:40 P.M. The Funeral Service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 54th Street Chapel, 5314 - 54 Street, Taber on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. with Bishop Chris Ward conducting. Marion is survived by his son Craig (Jody) Jensen of Taber; daughter Shari (Robert) Chipman of Barnwell; grandchildren Ashley (Ryan) Geeraert, Matthew Chipman, Kaitlyn, Rachael and Juliana Jensen; great-grandchildren Colton and Maggie Geeraert. He is also survived by his brother Ross Jensen; sisters Shirley (Bill) Stoltz and Darlene Layton; sisters-in-law Virginia Jensen, Ellen Jensen and Connie (Earl) Grigor as well as Robert (Nancy) Murakami. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Betty; infant children Christine and Brent; parents Nephi and Ivy; older sister Thelma; brothers Fred, Walter and Roy; sister-in-law Marion Jensen; brother-in-law Dick Layton. Marion was born October 21, 1919 at Barnwell, Alberta, the second child of Nephi and Ivy Jensen. He was raised on the family farm at Fincastle, just east of Taber, where he also attended Reliance school. Marion loved to dance and while at a dance in Taber, he met the love of his life, Betty Winkler. They were married in December of 1948 and lived at Fincastle where they built a house and started to raise their family. In 1966 they built a new house and moved into Taber. He farmed in the Fincastle and Purple Springs areas and loved being a farmer. He especially loved raising and working with cattle. Marion was a very hard worker and anyone who knew him, knew how strong he was, he did not seem to mind physical hard work. He was a great example to his family of strength, honesty and wisdom. He played baseball when he was young and also loved to curl. He loved to watch curling and baseball throughout his later years when he had more time. Dad never really had a hobby, since farming was his life and took a lot of his time. He loved music and was a great singer and would often entertain his family with his many songs as they travelled together. He was a great friend to all, enjoyed a good laugh and made friends easily. He gave many hours of service to his wife Betty, after she lost her eyesight. He was an active member of the LDS church and was able to serve in many positions there, his favorite time being spent serving in the Cardston Temple for ten years. Following the death of his dear wife in 1994 he moved to Lethbridge in 1998 and made many friends there. He played cards and spent time listening to music at the Lethbridge Senior's Club. When his health began to fail, he returned to Taber to live with his son Craig and his family. In August 2011 he moved into the Linden View Lodge. He made many good friends with the nurses and PCA's who spent so much time helping to care for him. He would want to express his gratitude to the staff at Linden View and to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Taber and Chinook Regional Hospitals.
