Description	:	Mrs. Marion Chasteen, 88 of Lake City, died late Thursday evening, March 4, 2004 at the E.T. York Hospice House in Gainesville. A native of Metter, Georgia, Mrs. Chasteen had lived in Lake City since 1933 and was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and also a charter member of the Lake City Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker most of her life while helping farm with her husband, Mannie P. Read More	Mrs. Marion Chasteen, 88 of Lake City, died late Thursday evening, March 4, 2004 at the E.T. York Hospice House in Gainesville. A native of Metter, Georgia, Mrs. Chasteen had lived in Lake City since 1933 and was a member of the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and also a charter member of the Lake City Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker most of her life while helping farm with her husband, Mannie P. Chasteen, who preceded her in death in 1987 and was also employed with Southern Bell as an operator and Robert’s Dock Restaurant for twenty years until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Chasteen was also preceded in death by two sons, Joseph Michael Chasteen and Harry P. Chasteen and one sister, Ella Will Smith. Mrs. Chasteen is survived by two sons, Robert B. Chasteen (Emmie) and James W. Chasteen (Carolyn) both of Lake City, one daughter, Norma Frances Wike (Donald), Palm Coast, Florida, nine grandchildren, Lisa Odom (Don), Orlando, Mary Anne Chasteen and Abbie Chasteen both of Lake City, Mike Chasteen (Karen), Gainesville, Toni Carol Weissend (Billy), Louisburg, KS, Brad Chasteen (Katherine), Jacksonville, Todd Chasteen (Kim), Boone, NC, Matt Chasteen (Jennifer), Ft. White and Denise Rhoades (Marcus), Newton, KS and seventeen great-grandchildren. Special nieces and nephews Judy Pomeroy (Mick), Sandra Turman, Henry Jones (Dot), Marjorie Rutledge and Gwen O’Steen (Lowell) all of Lake City, Dr. W.C. Turman, Winston Salem, NC, Lyn Cooke (Todd), Charlottesville, VA and Missy Boswell (Brad), Live Oak and many other nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Chasteen will be conducted on Sunday, March 7, 2004 in the Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 4:00 P.M. with Pastor Louie Mabry officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery in Lake City. Visitation with the family will be held at the home of Robert and Emmie Chasteen(1659 SW SR 47 in Lake City-752-6753) from 5-7:00 P.M. this afternoon. Mrs. Chasteen will lay in state at the funeral home from 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. today for friends that would like to pay their respects. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Hospice of Suwannee Valley at 618 SW Florida Gateway Drive, Lake City, Fl 32024 in memory of Mrs. Chasteen.
