Description	:	Marion Brock Lester was born in Gibson Township, Washington County, Indiana in 1902. He was born in the village of Lesterville, where his father was the postmaster (and his grandfather had been postmaster. -both were named Joseph Lester) Lesterville was close to the small town of Little York which also had a post office. This Gibson Township is on the eastern edge of Washington County and borders Scott County where the town of Scottsburg is nearby. Marion's father died in 1911 and Lesterville post office was closed. He was born in the village of Lesterville, where his father was the postmaster (and his grandfather had been postmaster. -both were named Joseph Lester) Lesterville was close to the small town of Little York which also had a post office. This Gibson Township is on the eastern edge of Washington County and borders Scott County where the town of Scottsburg is nearby. Marion's father died in 1911 and Lesterville post office was closed. By the 1940s the Little York post office closed also and people there get their mail (still today) on a Scottsburg rural route. They are still in Washington County, but the nearest town of any size with a post office is Scottsburg in Scott County. So on Marion's WWII draft registration, he listed Scottsburg as the 1940s address of the place where he had been born in 1902. The only thing that had changed was the post office that delivered the mail. Marion Brock Lester was his father's 15th of 16 children and all sixteen were born at the same home – in the village of Lesterville, just outside Little York in Gibson Township, Washington County, Indiana. These 16 children came from two mothers, and Marion's mother was my cousin. The 16th child born in 1905 was the first one to have a state birth certificate, it was hand written and just has Washington County as the place of birth.
