The son of Govert Antonio and Bertha (Beintema) Van Zee, Marion was born on October 4, 1923, on the farm near Prairie City. He graduated from Prairie City High School in 1940. On August 4, 1948, he was united in marriage to Alma Elisabeth Gabelman in Prairie City. Marion farmed most of his life. Marion enjoyed hunting, fishing and serving his Lord through singing with Alma. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Alma; a son, Sherman and his siblings, Martin, Dick, Chester, Bill, Katherine, Harry and Raymond.
