Description	:	Marion E. Lilley, 85, of Lincoln, died on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at her home. She was born October 17, 1924 in Harrisville to Ralph and Bertha (Howick) Briggs. She was raised in Harrisville and graduated from Harrisville Consolidated High School in 1943. In 1960, after 17 years of helping her parents on the farm, she moved to Battle Creek, Mich. to attend Battle Creek Practical Nurse Education Center. Lilley, 85, of Lincoln, died on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at her home. She was born October 17, 1924 in Harrisville to Ralph and Bertha (Howick) Briggs. She was raised in Harrisville and graduated from Harrisville Consolidated High School in 1943. In 1960, after 17 years of helping her parents on the farm, she moved to Battle Creek, Mich. to attend Battle Creek Practical Nurse Education Center. After receiving a licensed practical nurse (LPN) degree in April of 1961, she returned home to help on the farm and to care for her terminally ill father. Later that same year, she and her mother moved to Battle Creek, Mich. She was employed by the Sisters of Mercy, at Leila Y. Post Montgomery Hospital, where she worked the pre and post operative surgical floor. She married Samuel Lilley on May 5, 1979 in Harrisville, where they made their home. She worked at Lincoln Haven Nursing Home parttime until she retired in 1986. Mrs. Lilley was a member of the United Methodist Church, Harrisville, a former member of the Alcona V.F.W. Post No. 6466 Auxiliary of Harrisville and the Calvary Baptist Church of Mikado. Mrs. Lilley is survived by nieces and nephews; and good friends, Jim and Judy Pyne, of Harrisville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel, onJanuary 7, 1995; two brothers, Norman Briggs and Ralph Briggs; and two sisters, Lulu Briggs and Lillian Howard. The funeral was held on January 30 at Gillies Funeral Home. The Rev. Tracy Brooks officiated. Burial will take place in the spring at Springport Cemetery, Harrisville.
