Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa with full Military Honors. Marion E. Hymes was born July 6, 1937 in Unionville, Missouri, the son of Marion and Daisy (Albertson) Hymes. The family later moved to a farm in Keokuk County, Iowa. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He married Dorothy Ann Fisher on July 8, 1956, in Centerville. Together they moved to Clarence. He was employed as the fire chief for the city of Clarence, until he retired. Dorothy preceded him in death on July 1, 1987. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the J.C.'s. Above all, he loved the time he spent with his family. Surviving are daughters, Beverly (Gale) Speer of Cedar Rapids and Kimberly (Chris) Schmidt of Ankeny; one son, Jeffrey Hymes of Westminster, CO; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Daisy (Jerry) Griffin of Sylvis, IL, and Naomi (Michael) Sellers of Sigourney. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Bonnie Hymes and Zeola Coble, one brother, Al Hymes and one nephew, David Coble.
