She graduated second in her class from Tekamah, Nebraska High School in 1940. She and Keith Charles Johnson were married on January 22, 1944 in Waco, Texas while he was in the Army Air Corps.... She graduated second in her class from Tekamah, Nebraska High School in 1940. Marion attended Wayne State College, Nebraska and earned her teaching certificate, then taught school at Riverside School District 6. She and Keith Charles Johnson were married on January 22, 1944 in Waco, Texas while he was in the Army Air Corps. They were blessed with five children. Marion and Keith farmed in the Riverside area until 1959 when they moved to Fremont. Marion was an educator and librarian receiving her BA from Midland and her MLS from the University of Minnesota. She was a Master Gardener, quilter, basket weaver and a wonderful cook. Marion Estelle Major Johnson, 94, of Fremont, Nebraska, died Saturday, December 16, 2017, in Fort Collins, Colorado. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Keith; daughter, Jean Angela; sisters, Ethelyn and Patricia; brother, William. Left with memories are her son, David (Dita) of Seattle, WA; daughters: Carol (Tom) Tollman of Fort Collins, CO; Maureen (Paul) Flierl of Mead, NE; Germaine Johnson of Valentine, NE; brother-in-law, Mark Johnson of Parker, CO; sisters-in-law, Joyce Allely of Greeley, CO and Ann Junine Rathkamp of Virginia; grandchildren, Amelia (Michael) Lavelle, Kevin (Valerie) Flierl, Angela (Tim) Eichmann, Cassie (Bryan) Clark; eight great-grandchildren. Memorial Service will be 11 am Saturday, January 20, at Riverside Baptist Church, Tekamah, Nebraska. The family requests that memorials in her name be made to Nebraska Educational Television (NET) Nebraska, the Burt County Museum, or Riverside Baptist Church.
