Description	:	Marion Eugene Porter was born May 23, 1936, at Hastings, the son of Frank and Virginia Porter. He departed this life on Friday, September 20, 1974, at the age of 38 years. Marion lived in the Mills and Montgomery county area all his life. In 1954 he graduated from Emerson high school. On August 26, 1956, he and Betty Bergren were married. He departed this life on Friday, September 20, 1974, at the age of 38 years. Marion lived in the Mills and Montgomery county area all his life. In 1954 he graduated from Emerson high school. On August 26, 1956, he and Betty Bergren were married. He worked for awhile in the Plumbing and Heating Business, then most recently as an employee of Starcraft Manufacturing in Red Oak. He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Emerson Volunteer Fire Department, the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, and the United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife Betty, two sons, Dennis and Allen; one daughter, Nancy, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Porter of Emerson; three brothers, Duane Porter of Essex, Darrell Porter of Emerson, and Ronnie Porter of Murray, Nebr.; two sisters, Mrs. William Miner of Emerson and Mrs. William Fahn of Panama; numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and other family and friends. Funeral services were held at the Emerson United Methodist Church Monday, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m., the Rev. David Nolte officiant. Music was furnished by Mrs. Richard Steen, organist, and Mrs. Eugene King was at the registry book. In charge of flowers were Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Gillespie and Mr. and Mrs. M.D. Lang. Casket bearers were Alvin Sobbing, William Page, Eugene King, Clyde Sellers, Jr., Don Gillespie and Raymond Mitchell. Ushers were William Douglas and Richard Steen. Interment was in the Emerson cemetery with graveside rites by Humanity Masonic Lodge No. 378. Mansfield Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Malvern Leader, October 3, 1974, page 3
