He is survived by his son David Mulkey of Santa Cruz, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. Interment will be at the Davis Creek Cemetery in Davis Creek, Calif. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=ds&setCemId=2215559 SECOND BIO: A memorial service is planned for Sunday, Oct. 3 in Manteca for long-time Manteca resident and Davis Creek native Jefferson Mulkey, 99, who died after a short illness at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital in California. Mr. Mulkey spent his early youth as a buckaroo on his family's cattle ranch in Davis Creek, Calif. He later served in the U.S. Army in 1918 for approximately one year. Mr. Mulkey was educated at UC Berkeley, where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1923 and was a member of Boalt Hall alumni. His career began as a United States Naturalization attorney, headquartered in San Francisco. Mr. Mulkey represented the government in all superior courts of California and county courts of Nevada. In 1926, Mr. Mulkey furthered his education at UCLA to attain his teaching Certificate of Completion. Soon after, he married Inez Johnson, who was also an educator. They made their home in Sunnyvale, Calif. where Mr. Mulkey served as teacher, mentor, and administrator at Fremont High School for 33 years. He also belonged to numerous charitable organizations, community activist groups, and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church. After retirement, Mr. Mulkey and his wife moved to Manteca to be near his daughter Sonya Randle. Mr. Mulkey's contributions to education were recognized and appreciated by many of his colleagues and students. As a result, he was honored at several reunions by graduating classes ranging from the late 1920s to 1960s. He remained active during his retirement and at the age of 81, became a volunteer at McFall School for Developmentally Disabled in Manteca. Because he had a valid driver's license, good to the age of 100 years old, he provided transportation for the local senior citizens. In addition, he maintained a healthy lifestyle, which consisted of daily walks, even at age 99-1/2 years old. Mr. Mulkey is survived by a son David Mulkey of Aptos, Calif.; seven grand children; 18 great-grand children and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Inez of 52 years; a sister Mabel Clark of Alturas; his daughter Sonya Randle and grandson Timothy Randle. A memorial service will be Sunday, Oct. 3, 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 910 E. North Street, Manteca. Interment will be private.
