She was a member of Pleasantville Baptist Church and a founding member of Pleasantville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. (From the collection of Gwen Christie) Marion Laura Corkum, 96, Bridgewater, formerly of Pleasantville, passed away October 16, 2010, in Hillside Pines Home for Special Care, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Stedman and Laura (Publicover) Allen. She was a member of Pleasantville Baptist Church and a founding member of Pleasantville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years, she played the piano with the Fred Allen Orchestra, and continued to do so through the years. Marion enjoyed her flower garden, cooking, and baking and loved spending time with her family and her church family. Surviving are her son, Wendell (Madeline), Camperdown; daughters, Sharon Zinck (John), Bridgewater; Darlene Corkum, Hebbville; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Wesley; brother, Fred. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight, Monday, in R. A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pleasantville Baptist church, Dev. Doulgas Porter officiating. Interment in Pleasantville Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Pleasantville Baptist Church, Pleasantville Fire Department or the charity of your choice. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
