Stoner, 76, died at nine o'clock this morning at the Wabash Valley Sanitarium, Lafayette. In failing health for more than three years, he had been admitted there Monday. Born March 27, 1876, in Carroll County, he was the son of David and Susan Sinks Stoner. He had resided here 53 years. He had been a member of Monticello lodge No. 107, IOOF for 53 years last December, a member of Improved Order of Red Men for many years, and a charter member of the Red Men affiliate group, Araminta Council No. 380, Degree of Pocahontas. His first marriage was to Leora Foley who died in 1932. Their one child, Le Roy Monroe, died in 1940. On Nov. 19, 1935 he married Maude Conwell and they have resided at 201 S. Railroad since 1940. Survivors are the wife, Maude; a grandson, Bob Stoner, Delphi; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Thompson, Monticello; two half-sisters: Mrs. Blanche Watkins, Brookston; Mrs. Alta Reprogle, Monon; a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Miller funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday and Odd Fellows will have ritualistic rites there at 8:30 Wednesday night.
