Description	:	Marion (Piatz) Walters, the daughter of John and Marion (Burgard) Piatz was born on July 1, 1922 in Esmond, North Dakota. She died at the age of 92 years on Saturday, December 13 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Marion was raised on her parent’s farm by Fillmore. She later lived in Fargo where her sister, Lizzy introduced her to William ‘Bill’ Walters. On October 8, 1945 they were united in marriage. Read More	Marion (Piatz) Walters, the daughter of John and Marion (Burgard) Piatz was born on July 1, 1922 in Esmond, North Dakota. She died at the age of 92 years on Saturday, December 13 at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake, North Dakota. Marion was raised on her parent’s farm by Fillmore. She later lived in Fargo where her sister, Lizzy introduced her to William ‘Bill’ Walters. On October 8, 1945 they were united in marriage. The couple lived in the Fillmore and Esmond area until they moved to Oberon. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, worked at Oberon school and the Oberon Café where she baked wonderful homemade buns, pies and donuts. Later she worked for Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake for fifteen years as a housekeeper. After retiring in 1982, she moved to Rugby. Marion loved country life, she could not be out worked and some would say she couldn’t be out-baked. When her health started to decline she moved to Devils Lake. She loved a good card game, gardening and a good baseball game. Marion crocheted many beautiful doilies that she shared with loved ones. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She had a great sense of humor and love for God. Marion was survived by her children, Ronald (Linda) Walters of Oberon, Gwen Miller of Baker, MT, Mary (Kevin) Haatija of Sleepy Eye, MN, Dorothy (Rick) Moen of Devils Lake and Warren Walters of Devils Lake; 14 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Lund of Tioga and Lena Ganje of Velva; numerous nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by William; sons, Donald (1955) and William (1959) Jonathan (1965); grandchildren, Jacob & Jennifer Carter & their father Sam Carter, Rhonda Walters and Zachary Moen; sister, Eva Piatz; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Lund and George Ganje; and her parents. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17th at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with spring burial in the St. Ann’s Catholic Cemetery, Fillmore.
