Burial in The Memory Gardens Cemetery, Sioux Center, Iowa, on Monday, October 2, 1989. Marion Ten Napel passed away Friday afternoon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of seventy-four years. He was a son of Hermanus and Dingena Ten Napel. From 1941 until 1945, he served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. On November 30, 1945, at Orange City, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Lydia Lorena Vander Laan. They farmed just southwest of Ireton until 1961 when they moved to Jasper, Minnesota. In 1974, they left the farm and moved to Sioux Center. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sioux Center where he was active in Men's Brotherhood, taught Sunday school, and sang in the Praise Choir. He was very active in jail ministries in Sioux County and the M-2 Program at the South Dakota Penitentiary in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans organization. He is survived by his wife, Lorena of Sioux Center; two sons: Roger of Wichita, Kansas; Harlan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three grandchildren: Scott, Laurie, and Sherri Ten Napel; one brother, Harm Ten Napel of Sioux Center; and three sisters: Nellie Heusinkveld of Gresham, Oregon; Ada Barents and Francis Mulder, both of Ireton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeffrey, and two brothers, Edward and Peter. His passing is mourned by his many friends and relatives.
