Description	:	M. Wayne "Wayne" Magnuson, 86, of Central City died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Central City Care Center in Central City. Wayne was born July 7, 1925, in Stapleton to A. Rex and Maude W. (Post) Magnuson. Wayne grew up in Stratton, attending school there and graduated from Stratton High School. He continued his education at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln for two years. Wayne "Wayne" Magnuson, 86, of Central City died Monday, April 23, 2012, at Central City Care Center in Central City. Wayne was born July 7, 1925, in Stapleton to A. Rex and Maude W. (Post) Magnuson. Wayne grew up in Stratton, attending school there and graduated from Stratton High School. He continued his education at Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln for two years. He was united in marriage to Edythe M. Schmidt on Aug. 31, 1957, at Bethel Mennonite Church in Newton, Kan. The couple lived in El Dorado, Kan., for nine years where Wayne worked as a chemist for Skelly Refinery. They moved to a farm west of Central City and Wayne farmed until his retirement at the age of 79. Wayne traveled to Ireland and Alaska. Wayne was a member of the Central City United Methodist Church and the Eagles Club. Wayne was preceded in death by: parents and wife, Edythe Magnuson. Survivors are: son, Raymond Magnuson of Spokane, Wash.; daughters and son-in-law, Dr. Judy Magnuson and Susan and Rich Larkins, all of Hastings; sister, Elaine Capesius of Missoula, Mont.; grandchildren, Holly and Adam Lafferty of Lincoln, Nick Larkins of Avon, Colo., Alex Larkins of Shelton, Mailisha Magnuson and Antoine Nguyen; great-grandchildren, Colin and Annabel Lafferty and Ella Larkins. Interment was in the Central City Cemetery, Central City, NE. Published in The Grand Island Independent on April 25, 2012
