Description	:	Marjorie Bertha Bishop Burchell, 92, of Kearney, formerly of Minden, died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at her Northridge Retirement Community apartment. Marjorie was born June 11, 1918, near Pleasanton to Charles and Bertha (Hendrickson) Bishop. In January 1942, she married Alvin Burchell. He preceded her in death. Read More	Marjorie Bertha Bishop Burchell, 92, of Kearney, formerly of Minden, died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at her Northridge Retirement Community apartment. Marjorie was born June 11, 1918, near Pleasanton to Charles and Bertha (Hendrickson) Bishop. In January 1942, she married Alvin Burchell. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: sons, Dennis Burchell and his wife, Carole, of Kearney and Robert Burchell and his wife, Ellen, of Minden; daughters, Linda Ard and her husband, Bob, and Colleen Quadhamer and her husband, Steve, all of Minden, Bonnie Anderson and her husband, Monte, of Kearney and Kellee Krick and her husband, John, of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Doris Huddell of Walla Walla, Wash., Phyllis Wear of Lynwood, Wash., and Lorraine Taylor of Lincoln. Marjorie graduated from Kearney High School in 1935 and then attended teacher training at Kearney Normal School. After she married Alvin, she lived the next 44 years on the family farm northwest of Minden. They had seven children with six growing to adulthood. Always a learner as well as a teacher, Marjorie earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from The University Of Nebraska at Kearney. She taught school in Buffalo and Kearney counties. Over the years, Marjorie expressed her creativity by quilting, needlepoint, sewing, painting and telling stories. Marjorie enjoyed her family, neighborhood friends, traveling and spending winters in Texas. She will be missed and remembered by her children and their families. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cinda, and brother, Marion Bishop. Published in the Kearney Hub on 4/25/2011
