Description	:	Marjorie Riggs CENTRAL CITY — Marjorie "Marje" Gladys Riggs, 81, of Central City died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999, at her home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Union Cemetery in Murray, Iowa. There will be no services in Central City. Local arrangements are being made by Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Ms. Riggs was born Aug. 1, 1918, near Murray, Iowa to John W. and Gladys (Carder) Riggs. She received most of her education in Central City, later graduating from Lorimor, Iowa, High School. She attended the American Institute of Business and the Des Moines College of Law. Ms. Riggs served as a state senator in the Iowa Legislature. After that she worked for many years in Washington, D.C. After returning to Nebraska, she became deputy county assessor for Merrick County. In 1953, she joined Gladys Free in the operation of Dairy Queen stores at Bald Knob, Ark., and Superior. After retirement she returned to Central City. She was currently serving on the Central City Council. She was a life-long member of the Christian Church in Central City. She will be remembered for her diligent effort to study issues that came before the council and also love for her dog Tanner. Survivors include cousins, Rhonda Edlund of Central City and June Flaherty and Wayne Phillips, both of Murray, Iowa.
