Description	:	Marjorie Jean Marzolf, 89, passed away on August 31, 2020 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas due to complication of the COVID-19. Marjorie was born to William C. and Jennie (Vestre) Fairweather on July 25, 1931 in Bottineau, North Dakota. She was the seventh of eleven children, which included five half-sisters. She grew up on the Fairweather Farm north of Souris, ND in Haram Township, Bottineau County. She graduated from the Souris High School. Marjorie married Jerome B. Read More	Marjorie Jean Marzolf, 89, passed away on August 31, 2020 at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas due to complication of the COVID-19. Marjorie was born to William C. and Jennie (Vestre) Fairweather on July 25, 1931 in Bottineau, North Dakota. She was the seventh of eleven children, which included five half-sisters. She grew up on the Fairweather Farm north of Souris, ND in Haram Township, Bottineau County. She graduated from the Souris High School. Marjorie married Jerome B. Siercks on February 19, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Souris during a winter blizzard. The blizzard was so bad that her future father-in-law used his bombardier snow machine to transport people to their wedding. They were the first couple to be married in the new Trinity Lutheran Church. Marjorie and Jerome had five children: Jerome Howard, Beverley Jean, Gene Bradley, Donna May and Arlene Margaret. For most of her career she farmed, had dairy cattle and raised chickens near Souris and Landa, North Dakota. In 1955, Jerome and Marjorie moved to Tioga to operate a furniture and tv store for 2 years and then returned to the Souris area. She worked as a cook for the Westhope Nursing Home for 2 years and as the secretary of Trinity Lutheran Church in Souris for a number of years. They bough the current family farm north of Souris in 1966. Jerome passed away in October of 1973 from leukemia. Marjorie continued to farm with the help of her son Gene until the fall of 1975. In 1976 Marjorie met and married Leonard Marzolf. They would spend their summers at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe, North Dakota and traveled south during the winter in their motorhome. After a few years of trying different places to winter, they settled on Ranchero Village in Weslaco, Texas in 1983. They continue to winter in Weslaco even after they sold their motorhome and eventually made Ranchero Village their permanent home in the late 1990's. Marjorie was active in many activities at Ranchero Village. She enjoyed playing golf, won many trophies playing shuffleboard, played various card games, and also Bingo! She was part of a group who raised funds and then used thoose funds to shop for Christmas gifts for disadvantaged children. Leonard passed away on Memorial Day in 2003. Marjorie continued living permanently in Texas and began spending alternating summers in North Dakota with family or in Alaska with her daughter Beverley. While in Alaska she spent time fishing, picking berries and traveling around Alaska going as far north as Pudhoe Bay and south as Ketchikan! Starting the fall of 2012, Marjorie, Beverley, and lapdog buddy Xena began a number of spring and/or fall RV trips with the goal to visit every state in the United States as well as all as the provinces and territories of Canada that could be reached by road or ferry. They completed this goal in the fall of 2018 after driving about 58,000 miles. During the summer of 2019 Marjorie took her two final trips. The first trip was what she called her "friends and family trip" in which she visited a number of good friends, all of her children, all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren that were able to meet with her during the trip. Her second trip was to Medora, North Dakota to see the Medora Musical and attend the Gospel Singer's Brunch with her two daughters. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents: William and Jennie, husbands, Jerome and Leonard; half-sisters: Irene, Loretta, Beatrice, Harriet and Adeline; her brothers: Lorren and Warren; her sister: Darlyne and grandson Larry May.
