Born Dec. 11, 1928 in Chillicothe, she was the daughter of the late Burch H. and Myrtle Louise Marshall Simmons. Read More	Marjorie "Jeannine" Simmons Jago Offutt POMEROY- Jeannine Offutt, 87, of Pomeroy, formerly of Amesville, died early Friday, Aug. 19, 2016 at Hickory Creek Nursing Center, The Plains. Born Dec. 11, 1928 in Chillicothe, she was the daughter of the late Burch H. and Myrtle Louise Marshall Simmons. A graduate of Rome Canaan High School, she was employed for more than 45 years as a dental assistant with Dr. W.W. Patton and Dr. Gregory F. Linscott. She served as Ames Township Trustee Clerk for over 30 years. She was a member of the Trinity Congregational Church, Pomeroy where she was active in the Church Choir and Bell Choir. She was a Past Matron of Euphemia Chapter 200 Order of Eastern Star and a 65-year member with Pomeroy Chapter 186 O.E.S. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, collecting bells and Red Hat Society activities. Jeannine is survived by her son, Mike (Susan) Jago of Albany; two step children- Opal (Roy) Greuser of Pomeroy and Carl (Kathy) Offutt of Charleston, WV; three grandchildren- Michael Bruce Jago, Jr. of Logan, Lindsey (Bruce Fouts, Jr.) Jago of Glouster and Jennifer (Jeff) Oskey Angle of Logan; two step grandchildren- Steven and Leeann Offutt; three great grandchildren- Seth, Kolby and Will; three sisters- Jessie Goforth of Bradenton, Florida, Janice (Ted) Geary of Ocean City, Maryland, and Gladys Simmons of Bradenton, Florida; a brother, Charles Simmons of Chesterhill; and a sister-in-law, Lois Simmons of Chesterhill. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Richard Jago and her second husband, Opha W. Offutt; a son, Craig Jago; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary (Harold) Benner; a brother, John Simmons; and a sister-in law, Judie Simmons. Funeral service will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Pastor Denver Dodrill will be officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A committal service will take place at Amesville Cemetery following the funeral with burial of her cremains at a later date.
