Description	:	Marjorie Jewel Elledge passed away at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, Calif. on March 23, 2007, at the age of 82. She was born to Grover and Iva Bass, on their 160-acre homestead in Wendel, Calif., on May 17, 1924. Marjorie attended the Wendel School until the age of 9 when she and her family moved to Standish; she then attended grade school at the Honey Lake School near Standish. Read More	Marjorie Jewel Elledge passed away at Banner Lassen Medical Center in Susanville, Calif. on March 23, 2007, at the age of 82. She was born to Grover and Iva Bass, on their 160-acre homestead in Wendel, Calif., on May 17, 1924. Marjorie attended the Wendel School until the age of 9 when she and her family moved to Standish; she then attended grade school at the Honey Lake School near Standish. She attended Lassen High School in Susanville, graduating in 1942. In fact, her school bus driver would later become her husband. Marjorie first met Denny Elledge when they were teenagers in high school. Denny joined the U.S. Navy in 1942, and Marjorie went to work at the Fruit Growers' Supply Company box factory. On leave in Oct. 1944, Denny came home and married Marjorie. They celebrate their anniversary on Oct. 4. In Nov. 1945 Denny received his discharge and returned home to the Elledge Ranch. At that time Marjorie left the box factory to help Denny work the ranch. In the '50s, Marjorie took over a milk route out in the Honey Lake Valley for Morning Glory Dairies. She later worked as a clerk at Neil's Mercantile in Standish for approximately 10 years. After leaving Neil's, she enjoyed camping at Eagle Lake as well as other places, and enjoyed working in her yard, being a housewife and a mother. The Elledge's bought land in Plumas County in the '70s and enjoyed camping there every summer through last year. Marjorie loved her birds and wildlife, and also loved fishing Antelope Lake. In 1978 she took up oil painting, which she enjoyed for years; and in the late '90s she took up working with stained glass. Marjorie was active until the fall of 2006. Survivors include her husband of almost 63 years, Denny Elledge, of Standish, Calif.; son Terry (Dianne) Elledge, of Thomasville, N.C.; daughter Denise (Bruce) Stelzer, of Susanville; and sister Erma Barbara Wymer, of Anderson, Calif. Also surviving are four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Mrs. Elledge will be held at 2 p.m. at the Colonial Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, April 5, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Private inurnment will follow. The family requests any donations please be made in Marjorie's memory to either the Honey Lake Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Lassen County Times - (Apr/5/2007)
