Description	:	Marjorie L. Johnson 95, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at Bethany on University on Tuesday September 30, 2014. Marjorie was born May 20, 1919 in Strool, SD to John and Emily Stubbert and grew up with five brothers. She was raised on a farm outside of Bison, SD and attended the rural schoolhouse. Read More	Marjorie L. Johnson 95, passed away peacefully under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley at Bethany on University on Tuesday September 30, 2014. Marjorie was born May 20, 1919 in Strool, SD to John and Emily Stubbert and grew up with five brothers. She was raised on a farm outside of Bison, SD and attended the rural schoolhouse. Her family then moved to Hettinger, ND, where she met Henry Johnson. They were united in marriage August 22, 1936 in Bison, SD. They had two daughters Karen Sorlie and Betty Wieland. They farmed south of Hettinger, ND. Later they moved into town where Marjorie worked at the Hettinger Hospital as a nurse’s aide before accepting a job as the head cook for the Hettinger school system. This was a position she held for 27 years. Hank and Marge, as they were known, had a huge circle of friends and enjoyed dancing every Saturday night. Often driving as far as New Salem to follow their favorite dance band, The Tony Weber Orchestra. Their favorite song was The Blue Skirt Waltz. Marge was always known for her cooking, whether it was huge feasts for the thrashing crews on the farm or the big family get togethers with many of Hank’s 13 siblings. Her forte however was home-made doughnuts and delicate paper thin rosettes. Home and family were everything to her, she loved craft projects and was famous for her crocheted doilies and afghans, making sure friends and family each had their own personal afghan from her. Henry passed away October 8, 1993. Marge remained in their family home until 2011 when she moved to assisted living at Edgewood Vista, Fargo, ND to be close to family. In June 2014 she moved to Bethany Retirement Living. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Johnson, daughter Karen Sorlie, son-in-law Duane Sorlie, grandson Michael Sorlie, and great-grandson Jason Wieland, her parents and five brothers; Delbert, Earle, LaVaughn, Fred, and George Subbert. The family wishes to thank the staff of Edgewood Vista, Bethany Homes and Hospice of the Red River Valley for all the excellent care and the friendships they developed with Marge. She is survived by her daughter Betty Wieland (Rich Lindstrom), grandchildren; James (Kitty) Sorlie, Shari Tavis, Jodi (Tim) Lindemann, John (Kim) Wieland and Curtis Wieland. Eight great-grandchildren; Steven Sorlie, Samantha Sorlie, Michael (Danielle) Tavis, Nicole (Andrew) Soleim, Jacob Wieland, James Wieland, Catherine Wieland, and Henry Wieland; two great-great grandchildren Gabriella Soleim and Layden Sorlie. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. October 11, 2014 at Hope Lutheran North campus with visitation one hour prior the service. Interment and graveside service will be at the Hettinger Cemetery Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 3:00 p.m.
