Description	:	Marjorie Francil Matsen was born July 7, 1930, in Genoa, the daughter of Owen H. and Ruth B. (Bruch) Self. She was raised and attended school in Genoa. Marjorie married Harold C. Francil on Sept. 3, 1950, in Genoa. They lived on the family farm near Genoa until 1960, when they both enrolled at Adams State College. Graduating in 1964, they moved to Craig, where Marjorie began her teaching career. She taught first grade for two years at Sunset Elementary School, then transferred to Craig Junior High and then to Craig Intermediate School, where she served as librarian... Read More	Marjorie Francil Matsen was born July 7, 1930, in Genoa, the daughter of Owen H. and Ruth B. (Bruch) Self. She was raised and attended school in Genoa. Marjorie married Harold C. Francil on Sept. 3, 1950, in Genoa. They lived on the family farm near Genoa until 1960, when they both enrolled at Adams State College. Graduating in 1964, they moved to Craig, where Marjorie began her teaching career. She taught first grade for two years at Sunset Elementary School, then transferred to Craig Junior High and then to Craig Intermediate School, where she served as librarian until her retirement in 1989. After Harold's retirement in 1990, they traveled and spent one winter in Florida. Harold died in March 1992. Marjorie married Robert Matsen on April 8, 1995. He died July 7, 1995. After Bob's death, Marjorie remained in Craig until 2001, when she went to be with her daughter Denise in Colorado Springs. She returned to Craig in 2004. She enjoyed doing cross-stitching and needlepoint, reading and especially being with her family. Marjorie was a member of the Congregational Church, the Hospital Auxiliary, Delta Kappa Gamma sorority, PEO Sisterhood and the Red Hat Society. She died Feb. 14, 2006, at The Memorial Hospital in Craig. Services were Feb. 18, 2006, at the First Congregational Church in Craig with Pastor Bob Woods officiating. Her remains will be interred at a later date next to her husband Harold in the Genoa Cemetery. She is survived by her daughters, Denise Francil of Colorado Springs and Judy (Michael) Lyon of Craig; sons, Doug (Karen) Francil of Grand Junction and Bob (Rhonda) Matsen of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren, Chris, Devin, Ben, Jeremiah, Matt, Mike, Drew (Abbey) and Dane; great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Haley and Ezekial; sisters, Jean Brandt of Cotari, Calif., Carol (Ken) Anderson of Modesto, Calif. and Cleo (Jerry) Olsen of Torrington, Wyo.; brother, Dick (Gael) Self of Ovieda, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Lorraine Self of Lyons. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Walter, and her husbands, Harold Francil and Robert Matsen.
